And the game is LIVE!
Key issues resolved, thanks for your patience!
Today is launch day, and we couldn't be more excited! We're also
scrambling to get Torchlight up on our site - we had some issues with
wrapping it for DRM (at this point we're going with Yummy but still,
it's been a ride). Please believe us, we will have it up as soon as
humanly possible today - some of us were here all night doing last
minute fixes.
Also, given the issues we'd
had, we aren't able to offer the demo today, and at this point it came
down to just putting the game up or delaying it to provide the demo as
well. We figured you'd rather just get right to the game! We will put
the demo up in the next day or two, but in the meantime, you can demo
Torchlight at our partner sites: Steam, Perfect World, GamersGate,
Gameware, and WildTangent. Thanks for your patience and support, we're
super psyched - and will announce when Torchlight is live on our site
here and on Twitter.

As Torchlight’s launch draws
closer, we know many of you are chomping at the bit to not only play,
but begin the modding with the Level Editor (note, we can’t call it the
PrEditor: that’s apparently been copyrighted. The nerve! We’re hashing
out official names now.)
We’re not bundling the tools with the game – the download would be
laborious, especially for the folks who just want the game. So how do
you get these wonderful toys? The tools will be available here on our
site by the end of next week as a free, separate download. Once it’s on
our site for free download, it will become available several other
places, including www.runicgamefansite.com,
which is also hosting a Mod database. As soon as it’s ready, you’ll
know – we’ll post the news here, on Twitter, and in the forums.

Yeah...the title pretty much says it all. I'm a tad late in posting this, it was released yesterday.
For Immediate Release: Torchlight available on Steam beginning October 27th.
Steam users, rejoice! No more waiting for Torchlight: Runic Games
Inc, developer of the Action-RPG Torchlight, is thrilled to announce
their new agreement with Steam, allowing players to download Torchlight
on the first day it’s available, October 27th.
Previously, and as formerly announced at PAX, Torchlight would be in limited release through the Official site www.torchlightgame.com and through Perfect World’s portal on October 27, with download capability on Steam only available 30 days later.
“It’s important for us to make Torchlight as widely available as
possible. Steam is an enormous outlet that many players use exclusively
– we’re big fans ourselves – so we are really happy that it will be on
Steam starting day one,” says CEO Max Schaefer.
Torchlight will be available for digital download on October 27th, through Steam and www.torchlightgame.com.
I'll still be getting it thru their official site to help them out with the funds they need to keep on living, but it sure is nice to have it through Steam. Source
